Our interim report has been written for the many students and teachers busy running Classroom Assembly programs in their schools. It explains what happened at the Students' Assembly Conference and should help to set the stage for their own deliberations. Of course, if you're not a student or teacher, we hope you'll be interested to read about the results of our conference and the first stage of the Students' Assembly program.

For all of us attending the Students' Assembly conference, Todd Ward's illustrations were priceless. Over the course of five days, Todd, a member of the Students Commission team, kept track of what every participant had to say. Using illustrations that ran along every wall of our conference room, Todd wore out dozens of markers as he wrestled with finding the right way to draw each electoral system and everyone' s perspective. Lose track of things for a minute, look up, and Todd was hard at work. He got it all down. He's the guy and this is a sample of the work that made us all think and smile.

We are very happy to release the presentation report of the Students' Assembly on Electoral Reform. It was officially submitted to the 103 members of the Citizens' Assembly on February 17th, 2007 by five representatives of the Students' Assembly. A french version will be released in the weeks ahead.

A final project evaluation report will be released later this spring.

The Students’ Assembly on Electoral Reform is a parallel process designed to complement the work of the Ontario Citizens’ Assembly. It offers young Ontarians, ages 14-18, the chance to learn about the inner workings of the province’s electoral system and to be part  of  a  history-making process  that   will
help shape Ontario’s political future. Students can participate in their schools through our Classroom Assembly program or by applying to become a member of the Students’ Assembly and attending our week-long conference. | More...

We're working hard to create a remarkable program. If you've got ideas that you'd like to contribute, a pot of coffee you'd like to share, or you simply want to get your hands on more information about this project, then please get in touch.
